An interesting new product, Solio Communicator, has been announced by Better Energy Systems at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Basically, the product is designed to provide a safe and environment friendly hands-free option for people to use for their communication needs while driving. The product uses solar power to supply in-car hands-free kit, and extends talk-time to virtually limitless.
Solio Communicator has an integrated solar panel that soaks up sunlight and stores its energy within a internal Li-ion battery. The battery can hold its charge for up to a year! Weighing only 150 grams, this device is ultra-portable, sits comfortably on the dashboard of your car, but can also be mounted on the visor, window or any flat surface, with the help of a versatile mounting system. To ensure top audio quality, a hi-fi directional microphone is used, which should provide maximum clarity while making or receiving a call.
Mind you, you don't have to charge Solio Communicator using only solar power. Charging can be done through a USB port, a wall adaptor or 12V cigarette lighter socket in your car, so no worries on a cloudy day. Better Energy Systems claims Bluetooth compatibility with all BT enabled mobile phones, and the product should work straight out of the box. To be launced officially mid-2009, at a €79.99 pricepoint.
No pics as of yet, but you can check out the Solio site for more info.
