E.ON has decided to install an anemometry mast in the Humber Estuary, thus taking the next step in the proposal for the Humber Gateway wind farm project.

The mast will be around 85 m tall, and will be installed some 7 km off the Holderness Coast. It will measure and collect wind speed and other environmenta data in the area. Initial assessments have shown this area is ideal for placing a wind farm, but newly acquired anemometry measurements will further solidify the positive assessment of wind potential on the location.

Local fishing communities have been informed of the upcoming activities, and steps were taken to make sure no major interference appears with their daily work.

Early estimations of wind potential on the site indicate the wind farm could easily supply electricity for about 195,000 average households, with a total generation capacity of 300 MW.
