The US Renewable Energy Group (US REG) and Cielo Wind Power LP have entered into a joint framework agreement with Chinese Shenyang Power Group with plans to develop a 600 MW wind farm in Texas, on approximately 36,000 acres of land. This is the first time Chinese and US entities are jointly developing a utility-scale wind power project. The wind farm represents a USD 1.5 billion investment, and A-Power Generation Systems, a stake-holder in Shenyang Power Group, has been chosen to supply wind turbines for the wind farm.

Once completed, the wind farm will produce enough clean electricity for about 180,000 average US homes, and create hundreds of jobs in the US. Additionally, it will be one of the largest wind farms in the United States.
