BrightSource Industries Israel and Yissum sign agreement for the development of new technologies

The technology transfer arm of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Yissum Research has announced that two research agreements have been signed with Bright Source Industries Israel (BSII) to develop new materials for solar thermal power plants.

BrightSource will fund the research being done in the laboratories of Professors Daniel Mandler and Shlomo Magdassi from the Institute of Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In addition, BSII will also fund the implementation of the technology in their power solar power plants. The financial aspects of the agreement were not been disclosed.

Yaacov Michlin, CEO of Yissum said, "Solar energy is definitely the most important, yet underutilized, clean energy source. Israel has always been a leading player in the solar energy field, and the Hebrew University is proud to collaborate with BrightSource Industries Israel in increasing the efficiency of solar thermal power plants."
