Siemens Energy has been awarded an order for 70 wind turbines to be used for the Los Vergeles wind farm in Tamaulipas, Mexico. This will be the first order for wind turbines the company has received from Mexico. The buyer of the turbines is a local wind energy development company called Grupo Soluciones en Energias Renovables (GSEER).
Los Vergeles will have 160 MW of installed power generating capacity, and will be able to supply about 200,000 average households with clean electricity. Each turbine will have 2.3 MW of capacity. Along with the supply of wind turbines, Siemens will also execute a five-year service and mainentance agreement.
This supply deal marks the official entry of Siemens into the Latin American wind energy market. It is also the largest single supply deal for the company's new wind turbine to date.
