Suzlon to supply 21 MW of wind turbines for wind farm in the US

s88Suzlon Wind Energy has received an order for the supply of 21 MW of wind turbines for a community-based Grant County Wind Farm in southwestern Minnesota, US. The wind farm is being developed by Juhl Wind, a local company coming from Woodstock, Minnesota. The order contract requires Suzlon to supply 10 S88 2.1 MW units. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to be able to supply about 7,000 average homes with clean electricity.

Grant Count Wind Farm is a community-based wind energy project (Community Based Energy Development – CBED). It is partially owned by local farmers. CBED is a Minnesota state inititative that fosters development of renewable energy by doing optimization of local and regional economic and agricultural resources.

The wind farm is interconnected with Otter Tail Power Company and Northern States Power (NSP) is purchasing generated power.
