Andasol solar thermal power plants

Recently, Solar Millennium has made it possible for investors to benefit from the returns of a solar power plant through a closed-end fund, and at the same time support the use of renewable energies. Interest in a defined project can be purchased by investors: the 50 MW Andasol 3 parabolic trough power plant, found in the South of Spain. A return of 8% over the term of the investment is expected.

This fund will allow investors to purchase and hold a profit participation right in the Andasol 3 Kraftwerks GmbH, with an additional stake in the Spanish solar thermal power plant Andasol 3. The volume of subscription is a total of 48 million EUR, with Agio amounting in 2.5% and after January 15th – 5%. The fund has been created for citizens of Germany, and they can begin participation starting from a minimum of 5,000 EUR.

Stable income with inflation protection is guaranteed for the lifetime of the plant. Under contract the forecast amount of electricity has already been declared, and the power plant is currently under construction.

Solar Millenium has created another means of financing, providing the company with a greater financial flexibility and increased options. It also gives private investors the opportunity to make an optimal capital investment portfolio, with the return being loosely connected to the economic cycle. Within the first three years, investors are expected to get back almost half of their investment.

Andasol 3 is the third power plant of its kind in Europe, and has been in development since 2009. A 60,000 sqm collector surface has already been installed. Including the capacity of its sister plants (located nearby) the total energy produced is 50 MW, which is enough to provide more than half a million people with electricity. It will also be possible to provide solar power after sunset, as the plants also have thermal storage facilities.
