champagne-ardenne-enelEnel Green Power announced last week the start of operation at the company's main wind farm in France, the La Druine. Feauturing six wind turbines with 2 MW of capacity each, the 12 MW wind farm, even though small, will significantly help the Champagne-Ardenne Region move towards clean energy.

In addition to the start of operation at La Druine, the company has also just completed a larger wind farm, the 30 MW Vallée d’Arce wind farm. Once operational, this wind farm will produce clean electricity for about 22,000 average households in the area.

During 2009, Enel Green Power has put 8 wind farms into operation in France, totalling in 60 MW of capacity (68 MW if Vallée d’Arce is included). The company is planning to expand its renewable energy presence in France, touting wind and solar as the headings in 2010. The company already has an additional 80 MW of wind energy capacity under construction, out of the 500 MW of wind capacity planned.
