Iberdrola Renovables and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) have signed a 20-year PPA, under which Iberdrola Renovables will export 300 MW of power from its Cayuga Ridge wind farm, located south of Chicage, in Illinois. Even though the wind farm is under construction, TVA has decided to purchase the power which is to be generated there once it becomes operational, going that much closer to its goal of reaching 2000 MW of power from wind energy.

The Cayuga Ridge wind farm will be able to supply about 100,000 homes with clean electricity once it's completed. The construction of this project has created about 330 temporary jobs. It is scheduled to come online during spring 2010. The turbines used on the wind farm have been manufactured by a Pennsylvania based company.
