Shenyang Power Group, a subsidiary of A-Power, has made a cash investment in a new company set up to work on the 600 MW wind farm in Texas. The initial cash investment of USD 36.6 million has brought the final approval from the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission (NRDC) for the continuation of pursuing the Texas wind energy project.

The wind farm is expected to cost about USD 1.5 billion, a part of which is aimed at buying wint turbines. Companies involved in the project – Shenyang Power Group, US Renewable Energy Group and Cielo Wind Power – will be looking for financing from third party lenders for the bigger part of the project cost. A-Power has been designated to supply the wind turbines, as we have covered earlier. Every wind turbine to be used on the wind farm will be about 70% produced in the US, guaranteeing the majority of work to be done locally, providing jobs for the local communities.
