E.ON has officially flipped the switch on one of UK's largest offshore wind farms, the Robin Rigg wind farm, located in the Solway Firth. The final units have been installed, and the wind farm has been officially put in commercial mode, after all the tests were completed. At full capacity, Robin Rigg is capable of supplying about 117,000 average homes with clean electricity. It has 180 MW of installed capacity.
Robin Rigg is E.ON's third offshore wind farm project in the UK. The company has successfully completed Blyth and Scroby Sands earlier. E.ON is now ready to get more involved in other offshore wind energy projects such as the London Array, the Humber Gateway, as well as the company's Round 3 project of the coast of Hastings.
