SBM Offshore announced the signing of a design supply contract with Dubai based Lamprell Energy, for two wind turbine jack-up vessels. Additionally, under the agreement, SBM is also to supply innovative continuous jacking systems and large 800 ton bearing offshore cranes to be installed on the jack-up vessels.
The new vessels are going to be the GustoMSC NG-9000C type, touted as a state-of-the-art vessel, especially developed for use in the offshore wind industry. The vessels were ordered from Lamprell Energy earlier this year by Fred Olsen Windcarrier, the Norwegian construction company. The two new ships will be the second and third of their kind, once built.
The total amount involved in this order portfolio is EUR 60 million.
