E.ON has unveiled its first wave power generator in the UK. The Vagr Atferd P2 wave energy converter, a result of research and engineering done by Pelamis, has 750 kW of capacity, and has 180 meters in length, weighing 1500 tons. It will be installed and tested at the European Marine Energy Center (EMEC) in Orkney, Scotland for the first time ever. This supply deal also represents the first marine energy supply contract realized in the UK.

Originally Pelamis, the company which developed the P2 wave energy conversion device, has changed its name to Ocean Power Delivery in 2007. It has received funding enabling it to continue with development of the device, as well as orders from companies like E.ON and ScottishPower Renewables.
