LDK Solar building USD 662 million solar module factory in Anhui province in China

LDK Solar will be investing in a new world class solar cell and solar module manufacturing facility in the Chinese province of Anhui, in the Hefei High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. The new facility will be capable of producing about 1 GW of crystalline solar cells and about 500 MW of modules annually. Production start at the new factory is expected in Q2 2011.

Financing for the construction of the factory will be provided by Hefei High-Tech Construction and Investment Group reaching RMB 2.5 billion (~ USD 662 million), which LDK Solar will use to build the manufacturing facility within the next three years.
