Solarfun, Chinese manufacturer of silicon ingots, wafers and PV cells, has signed a distribution agreement with Japanese Fujimi Fine Technology, for non-exclusive distribution of Solarfun products in the Japanese solar market for the period of one year.
Solarfun regards the Japanese solar market as a mature, but growind market, significantly supported by Japan's government's incentives and subsidies passed in November 2009. This market was traditionally very hard to enter for Chinese companies, so this deal is regarded as an important one, and not only for Solarfun.
It is estimated about 90% of total solar shipments to Japan are aimed at households installations. Solarfun will now be able to have access to this growing retail market.
