ABB inaugurated the company's fourth global wind power generator factory in Vadodora, India. The factory's main product export will be the power generator, one of the crucial components of a wind turbine. The produced generators will be mostly aimed at the growing wind energy market in India.
The new factory's capacity will be 100 units per month, with ratings of up to 2.5 MW. Some 150 people will be employed at the new factory.
India is a growing wind energy market, currently the fifth in the world in terms of wind power usage. Like most other countries, India is under pressure to provide more electricity to answer the growing demand, but reducing its carbon emission profile at the same time.
