SCHOTT Solar and Solland Solar (Netherlands) announced a strategic partnership agreement, under which the two companies will license technology, perform joint R&D activities and jointly produce back-contacted solar modules. One of the bigger goals of the companies is to achieve serial production of solar modules with up 16% efficiencies by 2011.

Solland Solar brings into the partnership its Sunweb technology, which allows production of back contacted solar cells and PV modules. The technology's core is a back contacted cell based on the Metal Wrap Through (MWT) technology, featuring a unique metallization pattern on the front side of the cell.

SCHOTT Solar, on the other, hand has great experience in module engineering and production, and will enable faster market entrance of Sunweb solar modules.
