Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) announced all the wind turbines foundations at the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm have been installed. This marks an important milestone on this project. A total of 140 foundations have been installed, and thirty wind turbines have already been erected.

Greater Gabbard is located about 25 km off the coast of Suffolk. The project is being developed by SSE and npower renewables (an RWE company). First power generated from the wind farm's turbines is expected to be available during 2010, while the whole wind farm should be operational in 2012. At full capacity of 500 MW, the wind farm will be able to supply about half a million average homes with clean electricity.
