GE is planning an aggressive expansion in the Chinese market, according to GE China CEO, Mark Norbom, who commented on the company's new plans during the Summer Davos Forum meetings which took place in Tianjin, China.

GE will pursue expansion in areas including cleaner-coal technologies, wind and solar energy, but also biogas. GE is going to try to form partnerships with local companies. The company is currently involved in discussions with the Chinese State Grid, for the development and implementation of smart grid technologies.

GE's China Technology Center has been established ten years ago, when the Chinese market was first seen as the soon to be largest in the world. GE has a research center in China, one of the largest in the world, employing more than 1400 people, in more than 60 labs. The center averages 100+ research projects a year.
