Gamesa presents new G136-4.5 MW wind turbine

Gamesa presented its latest product for the wind energy market, the G136-4.5 MW wind turbine, at the Hannover Messe, in Germany. Aimed at projects with low(er) wind speeds, the new model has a 136 meter diameter, and is based on the G128 unit, as well as on the G10X-4.5 MW model, launched almost exactly a year ago. The increase of the diameter increases the swept area of the rotor, allowing the same power rating for the turbine, but achievable at low wind speed (Class III) sites. Additionally, the G136 also yields 8% more electrical energy annually, compared to the G128.

The G136 inherits many of the features found on its parent models, the G128 and G10X, including modular blade design, which allows easy transport and installation, as well as other technologies developed by Gamesa, such as Innoblade®, Multismart®, ConcreTower®, CompacTrain®, GridMate® and FlexiFit® (self mounting, nacelle coupled crane).

G136-4.5 MW will be available for commercial installation in 2012.
