NRG Energy announced the completion of the acquisition of Agua Caliente solar project from First Solar. The 290 MW solar power plant, using First Solar's PV modules, is located in Yuma County, Arizona, USA. This is currently the largest solar PV project under construction in the world.

Agua Caliente should be completed in 2014, creating about 400 construction jobs, and engaging local industries and communities. All electricity generated at the power plant once fully operational, will be sold through a 25-year power purchase agreement to Pacific Gas & Electric. The solar park will generate enough electricity to satisfy the annual needs of about 225,000 average homes.
