China Three Gorges and EDP enter strategic partnership

China Three Gorges and EDP have entered into a strategic partnership, as the Portuguese government approved the purchase of a 21.35% stake in EDP by the largest Chinese clean energy group. The two companies will combine resources in order to become global leaders in renewable energy production.

Bahrain establishing a renewable energy agency?

Bahrain is evaluating whether to establish an energy agency with focus on renewable energy and conservation. If the country proceeds with this plan, the new agency would work in close cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), whose initiatives are partly responsible for the path taken by the country.

ReneSola connects 20 MW solar facility in China to grid

RusHydro and Voith Hydro in agreement over Miatlinskaya HPP turbine modernization

RusHydro and Voith Hydro have signed an agreement for the modernization of the hydraulic turbines at the Miatlinskaya hydropower plant in Dagestan (Russian Federation). The power plant currently has 220 MW of installed capacity (two axial units, each with 113 MW of capacity).

Siemens and Shanghai Electric sign strategic alliance for China

Siemens and Shanghai Electric have signed a strategic alliance agreement, for two new joint ventures, for the Chinese wind energy market, aiming to better serve the needs of one of the largest and fastest growing wind energy markets in the world. Each of the new JV's will be in 49% ownership of Siemens, while the remaining 51% will be owned by Shanghai Electric.

Vestas receives 48 MW order from China for wind farm in Hainan

Vestas has received an order for 24 V90-2.0 MW units (48 MW) which are to be installed at the Gaopai wind farm in the Hainan Province, China. The company has already installed about 48 MW of wind capacity in this province before. Hainan is an island province, in the southern part of China. Wind conditions in this part of the country are low, with occasional extremes, which requires wind turbines capable of capturing wind energy at low wind speeds, but also capable of surviving high wind periods.

MetCap expanding IRCC power plant in Turkey

Ming Yang and Yudean collaborating on 200 MW offshore pilot project

China Ming Yang Wind Power has signed a strategic agreement with Guangdong Yudean, the largest power producer in the Guangdong province, for collaboration on offshore wind projects. Ming Yang will be supplying its 3 MW, 5 MW and 6 MW Super Compact Drive (SCD) wind turbines for offshore deployment, to be installed at the 200 MW pilot offshore wind project being developed in Xuwen, Zhanjiang.
