Cool Planet BioFuels announced that BP Technology Ventures has made an investment in the biofuels startup, as part of the company's C Round of investments. BP has this way joined General Electric, Google Ventures, ConocoPhillips, NRG and North Bridge Venture Partners as investors. GE, NRG and ConocoPhillips have made a joint venture investment company in early 2011, with a plan to invest in 30 venture and growth stage companies, including Cool Planet BioFuels.

Eneco has begun construction of the 49.9 MW biomass power plant in the municipality of Delfzijl, in the Netherlands. The Golden Raand power plant will supply about 120,000 average households with electricity once completed.

Bharat Renewable Energy, part of Bharat Petroleum, and SG Biofuels have started a program of development and deployment of elite hybrids of Jatropha, which will be harvested and used for the production of bidiesel in India. The first phase of the program is to develop a high-performing hybrid adapted to the growing conditions in various parts of India.
