Nordex to deliver 41 MW of turbines for wind farm in Iowa

Nordex received an order for a total of 41 MW of wind turbines for a wind farm in Iowa (USA), in Delaware County. The company is to deliver 17 Nordex N100 units, from its manufacturing facility in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and will fulfill a ten-year premium service contract.

iPower platform granted DKK 60 million support from Danish Council for Strategic Research

iPower platform, a project aimed at researching and creating a solution for an intelligent power grid, has been granted DKK 60 million as financial support from the Danish Council for Strategic Research, through its initiative called Strategic Platform for Innovation and Research (SPIR). A total of 32 collaborators will participate in the iPower project, bringin in all the necessary expertise and knowledge to pursue the development of this platform.

Vestas in contract for V52 units for Cape Verde

Vestas has entered into a supply agreement for the Cabeólica project, which is to be located on the islands of Santiago, Sal, São Vicente and Boavista in Cape Verde. The company is to deliver 30 V52-850 kW units, a total of 25.5 MW of capacity, to be installed at these various locations. Along with the turbines, Vestas is to perform service and maintenance for two years, and provide its remote monitoring system for the installed turbines.

REpower to deliver 25 turbines to EverPower for US wind farm

REpower and EverPower's US subsidiary have signed an agreement under which REpower is to deliver 25 MM92 2 MW turbines for one of EverPower's wind farms being developed in the US. EverPower is currently involved in advanced stages of development of a total of 600 MW of wind capacity in Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington. All these projects are to be completed over the next three years.

Eneco building 10 MW wind farm for FUJIFILM

Eneco announced the company is going to build a small, five wind turbine, wind farm for FUJIFILM, at the company's premises. The wind farm will have 10 MW of installed capacity, and all the power will be purchased by FUJIFILM, for its own power needs. FUJIFILM is pursuing a strategy of achieving 100% sustainable operations, which includes the installation and consumption of clean power.

Bulgaria planning wind and solar projects in 2011

Bulgaria is planning to issue tenders for a wind and a solar energy project in that country in 2011. According to reports from local media, the projects will have 50 MW of capacity each, and will be located on sites close to the existing power grid network.

EDP Renovaveis signs 198 MW PPA for Top Crop II wind farm in US

EDP Renovaveis announced its US subsidiary Horizon Wind Energy signed a 198 MW 5-year PPA with Constellation Energy Commodities Group, for clean electricity generated at the company's Top Crop II wind farm. The 198 MW wind is located in Illinois, and is already in operation.

Vestas to deliver 24 V90 1.8 MW units to Oak Glen wind farm in Minnesota

Vestas received an order for 24 V90 1.8 MW units for the Oak Glen wind farm in Minnesota (USA). Oak Glen Wind Farm LLC, the project company for the wind farm, is a subsidiary of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency.

Along with the wind turbines, Vestas is to provide its remote monitoring solution, as well as fulfill a five year service and maintenance agreement for the installed turbines.

Van Oord completes Phase I of Belwind offshore wind farm – orders new installation vessel

Van Oord announced the completion of the Belwind offshore wind farm, located near the Belgian coast in the North Sea. The company has successfully installed the last of the total of 55 Vestas V90 wind turbines making up Phase I of the project, after 15 months of construction work. The company erected the first turbine at Belwind in April this year. The first phase now has 165 MW of installed capacity, enough to supply some 175,000 average households with clean electricity. The foundations for the 55 turbines and one more for the substation, were built at water depths ranging from 15 to 32 meters.
