DONG Energy and Siemens to collaborate on 6 MW offshore wind turbines

DONG Energy and Siemens have entered into an agreement for testing and research and development involving 6 MW offshore wind turbines. Under the agreement, Siemens is to supply two of these test turbines to DONG Energy, which will used them for research and development purposes.

Acciona closes financing for Tuppadahalli wind farm in India

Acciona Energia announced the company has closed EUR 33 million of financing for its Tuppadahalli wind farm in India, in Karnataka. The loan comes from IDFC Limited, an Indian infrastructure finance company.

First Wind secures financing for Sheffield wind farm

First Wind announced the company has secured financing for its Sheffield wind farm project, which is to have 40 MW of installed capacity. The USD 76 financing consists of a USD 71.3 million in non-recourse construction loan and a USD 4.5 million letter of credit facility. First Wind can now proceed with the construction of this project located in the US state of Vermont.

Iberdrola Renewables in PPAs with ComEd and Ameren for up to 100 MW

Iberdrola Renewables, US renewable energy subsidiary of Iberdrola, has secured power purchase agreements for its new wind farm, to be built in Crawford County, Iowa. The New Harvest wind farm will hace up to 100 MW of installed power capacity. All the power generated will be sold to Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) and Ameren Illinois, with both companies taking virtually an equal stake in the produced power.

Vestas to supply 99 MW of wind turbines to British Columbia

Vestas entered into yet another contract for its V100-1.8 MW units, this time for a total of 99 MW to be delivered to a customer developing a wind farm in British Columbia, Canada.

The order comprises 55 V100-1.8 MW (suitable for low wind-speed sites) and a 10-year service and maintenance agreement. The units are to be delivered in mid-2012, and commissioning of the installed turbines is scheduled for late 2012.

DONG Energy sells and swaps ownership stakes in offshore wind farms

DONG Energy announced the company is restructuring its offshore wind farm ownership in the Walney offshore wind farm and the Nysted offshore wind farm.

PGGM and Dutch Ampère Equity Fund have signed an agreement with DONG Energy to acquire a 24.8% stake in the 367 MW Walney offshore wind farm, currently under constructiong, located near the UK west coast, near Morecambe Bay. DONG Energy will keep its 50.1% controlling stake, while Scottish and Southern Energy will retain the 25.1% stake it acquired from DONG in December 2009.

Northland Power building 24 MW wind farm in Quebec

Northland Power Income Fund announced the company is building a 24 MW wind farm near the south shore of the St Lawrence, in Quebec. The company has been awarded a 20-year PPA, under which all generated power at the wind farm will be sold to Hydro-Québec.

EDP Renovaveis secures PPA for 175 MW in the US

EDP Renovaveis announced the company's subsidiary, Horizon Wind, has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ameren Illnois Utilities and Commonwealth Edison Company for a total of 175 MW of power generated at wind farms in Illinois and Indiana.

Vestas supplying 28 V100's to Element Power

Vestas announced an order for 28 V100-1.8 MW units from Element Power, for a wind farm being developed in Luna County in New Mexico, USA. The 50.4 MW of capacity will be the first phase of the 99 MW Macho Springs Wind Energy Project. Vestas is to deliver the units, and provide service and maintenance for 10 years. The wind turbines are to be commissioned in mid-2011.

MPI Adventure offshore wind installation vessel gets some muscle

MPI announced its vessel MPI Adventure, which is being built in China for the special purpose of installing offshore wind turbines, has been fitted with a crane capable of lifting and carrying 1000 tons of weight. The 400 ton crane was constructed in China, and then transported to Cosco Nantong Shipyard by barge, where the crane was positioned on the main deck of the installation vessel.
