Terra-Gen Power closes financing for Alta Wind VI & VIII construction

Terra-Gen Power announced the company and its partners have closed USD 631 million of financing for Alta Wind VI & VIII projects, part of the large Alta Wind Energy Center, being developed in Tehachapi, California (USA). The two phases, each with 150 MW of planned capacity, will contribute to the capacity already installed and currently being developed, resulting in the project reaching 1020 MW by the end of 2011. This will make Alta Wind Energy Center the first gigawatt class wind power facility in the US.

EGP and Gas Natural Fenosa split EUFER ownership evenly

Enel Green Power (EGP) and Gas Natural Fenosa have agreed to split the ownership of EUFER (Enel Union Fenosa Renovables) evenly, thereby terminating the JV company. EUFER was established in 2003, and has been operating in the renewables and co-generation industries in Spain and Portugal.

Goldwind and Timken to collaborate on advanced wind energy technology in US market

Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology and Timken have signed a memorandum of long-term collaboration in the US market on technical services, products and aftermarket support of advanced wind turbine components. This is a three-year collaboration strategy, and will result in the expansion of capacity for both companies in order to support the new strategy.

DONG Energy and KEPCO to cooperate on green technologies

DONG Energy and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Copenhagen, in relation to the official state visit to Denmark from South Korea. The MoU calls for cooperation of the two companies in the fields of green technologies, including the Smart Grid, wind energy and bioenergy.

B&W and Toshiba to collaborate on solar energy technologies

Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) and Toshiba Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly explore opportunities in advanced supercritical power generation and solar energy technologies on a worldwide scale. The two companies have outlined a framework under which they will pursue technical collaboration on research into next generation thermal and solar technologies, and project collaboration in Asia and India, as well as other emerging energy markets.

Shenyang Power and China Machinery Engineering sign LoI for Texas wind farm

Shenyang Power Group Company, partly owned by A-Power, has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with China Machinery Engineering for the development of the proposed 615 MW wind farm in Texas. This arrangement is to help secure 14% of the debt financing for the project from Chinese companies. Additionally, the involvement of China Machinery Engineering will also be used to find an approprite engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project.
