The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced it will provide a EUR 200 loan for a wind farm project to be developed in eastern Romania, near the village of Fantanele. The wind farm is to have 347.5 MW of installed capacity, featuring 139 2.5 MW wind turbines. The project is to be built by CEZ a.s., a Czech energy holding company, involved in various energy developments in Eastern Europe.

Voith Hydro, a group division of Voith, announced the company has been awarded a contract from EDP to supply pumped storage technology for the Venda Nova III project in Portugal. The contract is valued at about EUR 122 million, and will result in Voith delivering complete electromechanical equipment for the facility featuring two reversible pump/turbine systems.
Enel Green Power adds wind capacity in Italy – starts construction on new capacity

Enel Green Power announced 44 MW of the total of 64 MW available at the Maida San Floro wind farm in Catanzaro, southern Italy, has been commissioned and put into commercial operation. The wind farm features 32 wind turbines, each with 2 MW of capacity. Once fully operational, the wind farm will generate clean power for about 56,000 average households in the area.
SeaEnergy signs interim development agreement for Inch Cape offshore wind farm

SeaEnergy Renewables, part of SeaEnergy, announced the company has signed an interim development agreement (IDA) with The Crown Estate involving activities on the development of the Inch Cape offshore wind farm. The Crown Estate will directly invest GBP 1.4 million into key surveys and reports for the project, to be contracted and managed by SeaEnergy Renewables.
M+W Solar building PV power plant in southern Italy

iPower platform granted DKK 60 million support from Danish Council for Strategic Research

iPower platform, a project aimed at researching and creating a solution for an intelligent power grid, has been granted DKK 60 million as financial support from the Danish Council for Strategic Research, through its initiative called Strategic Platform for Innovation and Research (SPIR). A total of 32 collaborators will participate in the iPower project, bringin in all the necessary expertise and knowledge to pursue the development of this platform.
Alerion selling almost 19 MW of solar assets to HFV

Alerion's board accepted a binging offer from Holdind Fotovoltaica (HFV) for the purchase of some of the company's solar power assets in Italy. HFV is to acquire a total of 18.8 MW of installed solar capacity in Pontenture, San Marco in Lamis and Castellaneta for a cash amount of EUR 27.5 million.
Bulgaria planning wind and solar projects in 2011

Bulgaria is planning to issue tenders for a wind and a solar energy project in that country in 2011. According to reports from local media, the projects will have 50 MW of capacity each, and will be located on sites close to the existing power grid network.
