Acciona opens first Brazil wind equipment facility

Acciona has opened the company's first wind equipment manufacturing facility in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The plant has the capacity to produce 135 hubs annually (405 MW), for the AW-3000 wind turbine, the company's biggest unit.

Alstom enters Canadian wind market with 414 MW deal

Alstom has signed an agreement with NaturEner Energy Canada (NaturEner) for the supply of 138 ECO 110 3.0 MW wind turbines (totalling in 414 MW of capacity), along with ten-year service and maintenance for the supplied units. The deal, worth about EUR 420 million, represents an entry by Alstom into the Canadian wind energy market.

Alstom wins DolWin3 grid connection contract segment

Alstom has been awarded part of the EUR 1 billion contract to connect the DolWin3 offshore wind farm to the mainland grid. The wind farm, owned by TenneT (Dutch/German power grid operator), is located in the North Sea. Alstom will provide its HVDC technology for its part of the project.

Serbia announces tender for small hydropower developments

Serbia's Ministry of Energy Development and Environment Protection (MEDEP) has issued an open tender participation invitation to interested parties for the purpose od development of small hydropower plants in Serbia. A total of 317 locations will be covered, with investments totalling an estimated EUR 120-200 million. This is the first time the country's government has publicly invited interested parties to participate in the development of renewable energy resources.

EWP, OTEPI, ENGEENUITY implementing first wave project in Latin America

Eco Wave Power has joined efforts with Otepi Renewables (subsidiary of OTEPI Group) and Engineenuity to implement the a wave energy project in Panama, also the first of its kind in Latin America. The project will feature and promote Evo Wave Power's technology in Panama and possibly attract more customers who'd like to invest in power plants of this kind.

Alstom and Renova Energia sign pre-agreement for 440 wind turbines

Alstom and Renova Energia (Brazil) have signed a preliminary agreement for the supply of a total of 440 onshore wind turbines for deployment at wind farms in Brazil. The total amount involved exceeds EUR 1 billion, while the amount of new wind capacity that could be supplied will be no less than 1.2 GW.

Arise Windpower planning first major wind development in Scotland

Trina Solar supplying Gestamp with 30 MW of modules for projects in SAR

Trina Solar announced the company will be supplying Gestamp Solar with 30 MW of PV modules for two projects in South Africa. The projects will be built in two locations, near the towns of Prieska and De Aar, in the country's Northern Cape province.
