
Mott MacDonald has completed three environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) for three geothermal projects in Indonesia. The assessments were ordered by Pertamina Geothermal Energy, Indonesia's largest geothermal developer.

Alstom announced the company has inaugurated its new hydropower manufacturing facility in Tianjin, China. The new facility will enable the company to respond to demand from custmers in Asia more efficiently. China is seeing further expansion in the hydropower sector, so there is every reason to build this facility there.

juwi Group announced the establishment of a subsidiary based in Bangalore, India. The new company will deal with the construction of solar power plants in India, with a total capacity of more than 100 megawatts.

Acciona announced the company is going to build its third wind farm in India. The 56 MW Tuppadahalli wind farm will be located in the state of Karnataka, and will be close to the previously installed wind farms Arasinagundi and Anabaru. Tuppadahalli will feature 34 1.65 MW wind turbines, and represents an investment of about EUR 58 million.

CNPV Solar Power (China) and Stand-by-Europe (Czech Republic) signed an agreement under which CNPV is to supply Stand-by-Europe with 150 MWp of solar modules between 2011 and 2013. CNPV will deliver the modules in tranches, with the first delivery having 40 MWp of modules in 2011, and then 50 MWp and 60 MWp in the subsequent years.

Nordex has received orders totalling in 24 N90/2500 wind turbines, to be installed at two wind farms in Turkey. The first order is for 18 units, which will be installed at the Akres wind farm, developed by Karesi Enerji. The second order is for 6 units, which are to be installed at the existing Yundtag wind farm, developed by Dost Enerji, as an extension of capacity.

aleo solar announced plans to increase its annual production capacity from 250 MW to 390 MW, by the end of 2011. The company is investing about EUR 20 million into this expansion project, creating an additional 100 jobs.
aleo solar will expand production capacity at two of the company's solar module production facilities. The 180 MW annual capacity facility in Prenzlau, Germany will be uprated to 280 MW annually, while the Gaomi facility in China will output 90 MW annually. aleo solar's Santa Maria de Palautordera facility will remain at 20 MW annually for now.

The largest hydropower plant in the world, the Three Gorges Dam, is experiencing a maximum capacity load for the first time ever in the project's history. The main phase of the project was completed in 2006, and features a total of 18.2 GW of installed capacity (26 700 MW hydroturbines). It spans the Yangtze River in the Hubei Province in China. Construction is still going on at the site, eventually bringing another six generators and increasing capacity to 22.5 GW, and ship locks to increase the river's shipping capacity.

SolFocus and Vision Electro Mechanical Company announced the two companies will jointly build the largest concetentrated PV (CPV) power facility in Saudi Arabia. The project is to be located in the Bahra region, and will produce about 300 MWh of clean energy annually. This is only the first in a series of Saudi solar power plants.

LDK Solar has signed an agreement with BYD Company under which LDK Solar is to supply solar polysilicon to BYD for two years. The supply order includes polysilicon, multicrystalline solar wafers, and other solar energy products. The deal is worth USD 300 million. The first shipments are to start in January 2011, and will be delivered on a monthly basis.
