SunPower has entered into a definitive agreement with Total for the acquisition of Tenesol, a wholly owned subsidiary of Total. SunPower is paying USD 164.5 million in cash for this acquisition, while at the same time Total will purchase 18.6 million shares of SunPower common stock. Once Tenesol is in ownership of SunPower, Total will own about 66% of SunPower's common shares.
Iberdrola Renewables has been given approval by the US Department of Interior for the development of the Tule wind farm in California. The approval is for the part of the project that will sit on federal lands, and is also the first of five approvals for "priority" wind projects in California that have been proposed for public lands.
Canadian Solar is going to sell a total of 86 MW of solar projects to TransCanada for about CAD 470 million. The sales agreement encompasses nine fully operational solar utility scale projects across Ontario.
MidAmerican Energy Holdings is growing more roots in the solar energy market in the US, having entered into a partnership with NRG over the Agua Caliente solar project to be built by First Solar in Arizona. MidAmerican Energy is to acquire a 49% stake in the USD 1.8 billion project.
Duke Energy has acquired two large-scale solar parks in Arizona totalling 20 MW of capacity, marking the company's first solar power installations in the US West. The two solar projects are Ajo Solar Project and Bagdad Solar Project, acquired from Recurrent Energy.
SunPower is going to supply NRG Solar, subsidiary of NRG Energy, with 54 MW of solar power technology. The company will deliver 24 MW of solar panels, of the total amount ordered, to NRG by the year's end. The remaining capacity will be be used to support the development of NRG Solar's 26 MW (AC) Borrego Solar Project, to be built in southern California.
The US Department of Interior has given the green light for the construction of a power transmission line which is to connect the 150 MW solar power tower (solar thermal) Rice Solar Energy Project in southern California.
MidAmerican Energy Holdings, a power utility and energy company owned by Warren Buffet, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the 550 MW Topaz solar farm from First Solar. The large solar farm is being built in California, in San Luis Obispo County.
BrightSource Energy has added its SolarPLUS thermal energy storage capability to power purchase agreements. In particular, the company has added SolarPLUS to three PPA's signed with Southern California Edison (SCE). Basically, the PPA's now include the option to store energy for use during low-generation hours (overcast skies, nighttime, etc), increasing the availability of clean power to power utilities and distributors. Stored energy is easily dispatchable on demand, available to power grid operators during peak consumption periods.

Hydro Green Energy and Engevix Engenharia have signed an agreement for the joint pursuit of at least four new hydropower projects in the US. The collaboration agreement will combine both companies' strengths – Hydro Green Energy's RE development experience and Engevix' energy infrastructure engineering expertise. The projects will most likely be small to medium sized.
