Vestas to deliver 90 MW of turbines for Michigan wind farm

Vestas announced an order for 90 MW of wind turbines from John Deere Wind Energy, for a project in Michigan. The Michigan Wind II wind farm will feature 50 V100 1.8 MW units, marking another order comprised of the recently introduced low wind speed units.

EDP Renovaveis in PPA for 99 MW of wind power in US

EDP Renovaveis' subsidiary, Horizon Wind Energy, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a period of twenty years for a 99 MW wind farm in the PJM interconnection area (Meadow Lake IV wind farm). The wind farm is to be fully operational in 2011.

CSolar Development buildiing 130 MW PV power plant in Imperial County

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), part of Sempra Energy, signed a long-term power puchase agreement with CSolar Development under which the utility will purchase all power generated at the 130 MW solar PV power plant to be built in Imperial County, California.

Woodward to supply REpower with wind power converters

Woodward Governor Company (US) has signed a lont-term agreement with REpower under which the company is to supply REpower (Germany) with wind power converters. Woodward will extend its relationship with REpower to include the supply of converters for both the onshore and offshore wind turbines.

Onsemble completes wind data network in Texas

Onsemble, a provider of real-time renewable energy data, has announced the completion of its hub-height wind data network within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region. The new network is now capable of delivering wind data from abou 95% of the state's wind farms.

Iberdrola Renovables begins construction of 26.8 MW biomass plant in US

Iberdrola Renovables has commenced construction of the 26.8 MW Lakeview biomass power plant in Lake County, east Oregon, US. The power plant will use forestry biomass to produce heat for its boilers. The biomass will come from cleaning and pruning operations in the forests located in the south and the east of the state. The power plant will be only about 20 miles away from California, and close to the nearest transmission lines.

Sempra Generation's 200 MW southern Calfornia solar project approved

Sempra Generation received approval for its 200 MW solar power project in southern California, in Antelope Valley, from the Kern County Board of Supervisors. The power plant is to be built some 90 miles (~150 km) north of Los Angeles. The future Rosamond Solar project will have up to 200 MW of installed capacity, and be able to generate clean electricity for about 76,000 average homes.

NACEL Energy moves ahead with Snowflake wind farm

NACEL Energy has reached an agreement with the Arizona Public Service Company (APS) to perform a system impact study for the company's Snowflake wind farm in Navajo County, Arizona. The study will provide an assessment of necessary equipment upgrades in order to integrate the first phase of the project, having 18.9 MW of capacity, into the power grid.
