Hindustan Zinc developing 150 MW of wind capacity in India

EDF EN commissions 20.7 MW wind farm in France

EDF Energies Nouvelles announced recently the company has commissioned the 20.7 MW Corbières Méditerranée onshore wind farm. The wind farm features nine Enercon wind turbines, each with 2.3 MW of capacity.

SunPower finalizes sale of Solare Roma – fulfills 2010 plan for Italy

SunPower announced the finalization of sale of the company's Solare Roma solar power plant to Allianz Renewable Energy Partners IV. The power plant is located in the province of Rome, in the Lazio region of Italy. It has 13 MW of installed power generating capacity, and was designed and built by SunPower, which remains the service and maintanance provider for the installed equipment under new ownership of the power plant.

REC in EUR 143 million wafer supply contract with Asian solar cell producer

Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), based in Norway, has announced the company has entered into a NOK 1.1 billion (EUR 143 million) wafer supply contract with an Asian solar cell manufacturer. Under the terms of the contract, REC is to supply the wafers from beginning 2011 to the end of 2013.

Construction begins on 500 MW solar project in India's Gujarat State

A major solar power project has entered construction phase in the Indian state of Gujarat (western part of India). The 500 MW solar power plant's foundation stone has been laid by the state's Chief Minister Narendra Modi today, marking the beginning of construction work at the solar power plant site. The project is located on 1000 acres of wasteland at Charanka, northern Gujarat. It represents an investment of about EUR 208 million.

Arise Wind Power secures loan for Fröslida wind farm in Sweden

Arise Wind Power announced the company has signed a loan agreement with DnB Nor for financing the Fröslida wind farm in the Swedish municipality of Hylte. The wind farm will feature nine wind turbines, totalling in 22.5 MW of installed capacity.

Etrion completes two solar projects in Italy, ends year with 47 MW in operation

Etrion Corporation announced the completion of the 3.5 MW solar power plant, the Borgo Piave solar park. The power plant is expected to produce more than 5 GWh of electrical energy annually. The project is to benefit from the solar feed-in-tariff available in Italy, guaranteeing a premium purchase price for at least 20 years from the start of operations at a solar power plant. The power plant is of the ground mounted type, built by Phoenix Solar, featuring Trina Solar's crystalline fixed-tilt PV modules.

Solar Millenium licensing parabolic trough technology for two Spanish solar projects

Solar Millenium announced the company has received an order for licensing its parabolic trough collector technology for two solar power projects in Spain. The orders come from two companies, Elecnor and Termosolar Moron. Both projects will have 50 MW of installed capacity, one called Astexol-2 (Elecnor) in Extremadura, and the other near Moron de la Frontera in Andalusia (Termosolar Moron).
