Iberdrola awards Tamoin Energías Renovables with 600 MW of wind capacity maintenance

Iberdrola has awarded a maintenance agreement to Tamoin Energías Renovables for a total of 600 MW of wind capacity installed in Spain. Tamoin Energías Renovables will be responsible for maintaining operation of 736 wind turbines, installed at 24 wind farm in the provinces of Orense, Zamora, Salamanca, Toledo, Cuenca, Albacete and Murcia.

US DoI and BOEM announced plans for major Atlantic coast offshore wind development

The US Department of Interior and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management have announced the progress of the department's renewable energy initiative, having successully passed an important environmental review. This means the offshore wind energy leases planned for waters near Maryland, Virgina, New Jersey and Delaware can now move forward.

Abengoa and JGC bring Solacor 1 CSP plant online

Abengoa and JGC Corporation have announed the start of commercial operation of the Solacor 1 concentrated solar power project, part of the El Carpio Solar Complex, in Cordoba, Spain. Solacor 1 features more than 60 thousand mirrors, generating enough power to supply about 26,000 average homes.

Fluor awarded EPC contract for 125 MW solar project in US

Fluor has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract for a 125 MW solar project being developed in Arizona, USA. The project is owned by Arlington Valley Solar Energy II (AWSE II; part of LS Power Group).

Vestas to deliver 27 V100's to China

Vestas has received its first ever order for the V100 units from China. The company is to supply Datang Hubei Renewable Energy with 27 V100-1.8 MW units, totalling in 48.6 MW of capacity. Additionally, this order also represents the company's entry into another local wind energy markt in China – the Hubei province.

Siemens wins first wind turbine order in Africa

Siemens has won its first ever order for wind turbines in Africa. The company is to supply a total of 100 MW of wind capacity to Nareva Holding (44 wind turbines), which is developing the Haouma and Foum El Oued wind farms in Morocco.

Aside from the delivery and installation of the wind turbines, Siemens is also to provide service and maintenance for five years. Both projects are to enter commercial operation in mid-2013.

Yingli Solar in supply agreement for 200 MW of PV modules with IBC

Yingli Green Energy (aka Yingli Solar) has entered into a supply agreement with IBC Solar AG. The company is to supply a total of 200 MW of PV modules, of which 180 MW will be multi-crystalline and mono-crystalling Panda PV modules, during 2012, while the remaining 20 MW are left as an option. The solar modules are to be installed at various projects in Germany and other European countries, but also at other solar projects worldwide.

Gamesa to supply Santa Maria JV with 50 MW of turbines

Gamesa and Santa Maria (joint venture between two Grupo Ortiz companies) have signed an agreement under which Gamesa is to deliver, install and commission 25 G97-2.0 MW units at the Santa Maria de Nieva wind farm in Almeria, Spain.

Siemens supplying Indian market with steam turbines for solar thermal applications

Siemens has received an order for four steam turbines for use at solar thermal power plants in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The projects will use parabolic trough solar thermal technology to convert sunlight into heat to produce high pressure steam. A total of four power plants is being developed, as part of India's Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), which calls for the development of 20 GW of solar capacity in Indian by 2022.
