Iberdrola has entered into a service and maintenance contract with the GE-Tamoin Energias Renovables consortium for a total of 400 MW of installed GE turbines in Spain. The contract is for a three year period, with an option to extend this by another two years.
RWE announced the company will be building a 39 MW wind energy project in Poland in Nowy Staw, near Gdansk. A total of 19 turbines will be installed at the new wind farm.
China Ming Yang Wind Power announced the company super compact drive (SCD) MY-3.0 MW wind turbine has received LVRT certification, after having passed low voltage ride through performance tests.
Vestas has entered into an agreement with ERG Renew S.p.A. for service and maintenance of ten wind farms in Italy, totalling in 268 MW of installed capacity. The Danish company is to provide its services for a period of 15 years.
RWE announced the company has been granted permission for the construction of the first development stage of the Innogy Nordsee 1 offshore wind farm, located in the North Sea, about 40 km north of the island of Juist. The whole project will have three stages, totalling in 160 installed turbines, with the estimated installed capacity of about 1000 megawatts.
GE's offshore 4.1 MW wind turbine has had its first trial run in Gothenburg Harbor, Sweden. The trial, which lasted 200 hours, resulted in 99.05% availability, with wind speeds varying from zero to rated wind speeds. The capacity factor achieved was 35.3 percent.
Iberdrola recently commissioned the Messina-Argento wind farm complex in Sicily, Italy. The project has a total of 178 MW of installed capacity, becoming one of the largest operational wind projects in Italy. The project was jointly developed by API Nova Energia and Iberdrola.
Alstom Power has entered into a contract with Odebrecht Energia for the supply of wind turbines for four wind projects being developed in South Brazil. The four projects, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, will have a total of 108 MW of installed capacity, once completed.
GE recently announced a wind turbine supply deal with China Long Yuan Power Generation, a renewable energy developer. The Chinese company is building the Dufferin wind farm in Ontario, Canada. The wind farm will have 100 MW of installed capacity once completed.
GE is going to supply Fina Enerji (Turkey) with 31 1.6-100 wind turbines (50 MW) which are to be installed at the Tayakadin wind farm near Istanbul. This is the first European order for GE's 1.6 MW units, touted to have the highest efficiency in their class.
