China Ming Yang Wind Power Group (CMYWP) announced the company has won the bid to supply wind turbines for 200 MW wind capacity to be built in the Hami area, in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. CMYWP will deliver a total 200 MW of its 3 MW wind turbines, featuring Super Compact Drive (SCD) technology. The awarded supply contract is worth about RMB 824 million (USD 124 million).
The company submitted its bid in October 2010, in China's first onshore wind turbine auction to involve units with 2.5 MW and above capacity. CMYWP is to supply units for ten wind farms in total, four in Kushui town, and another six in Yandun town.

Solar Power Partners and JCM Capital to develop 200 MW of solar power in Ontario

Solar Power Partners (US) and JCM Capital (Canada) announced the two companies have jointly launched a fund to develop, finance and operate 200 MW of solar power capacity in Ontario. About 20 MW of capacity is already slated for construction in 2011.
NextEra to buy 40 MW of solar capacity in Ontario from First Solar

NextEra Energy entered into agreements with First Solar for purchasing a total of 40 MW of solar projects in Ontario, Canada. First Solar is to continue the development and construction of the solar projects, the Sombra and Moore Solar Energy Centers, each consisting of two 10 MW solar PV projects. NextEra Energy Canada will become the owner and operator of these facilities once they are completed. All power generated from these solar parks will be sold to the Ontario Power Authority under long-term PPAs.
TransAlta commissions two wind farms in Canada totalling 123 MW

TransAlta announced the company has commissioned two new wind farms in Alberta and New Brunswick, adding another 123 MW to the company's wind capacity portfolio, now at 1073 MW. This puts the company at the top spot in terms of installed wind capacity in Canada.
GE to deliver 400 MW of turbines for wind farms in Brazil

GE received orders for an additional 400 MW of wind turbines for wind farms in Brazil, which are to be developed as part of the 2010 Alternative Energy Auctions. The orders, estimated fro commitments made by wind farm developers involved in the auctioned projects in Brazil, are for a total of 258 GE 1.5 and 1.6 MW units.
Enel Green Power starts operation at wind farm in Romania

Enel Green Power announced the start of commercial operation at the 34 MW Agighol wind farm in the Valea Nucarilor municipality, Romania. The wind farm features 17 2 MW turbines, and can generate enough clean electricity to power about 35,000 average households in the area.

Iran building 1 GW wind farm in Pakistan

Iran and Pakistan have entered into an agreement under which the Iranian energy developer SANIR, a company affiliated with the Energy Ministry of Iran, is to build a 1000 MW wind farm in the province of Sindh, southern Pakistan. The agreement was signed between the Iranian commercial counselor in Karachi and members of the Pakistani Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Mitsubishi investing GBP 100 million in R&D operation in Scotland

Mitsubishi Power Systems (MPS) is investing GBP 100 million for the establishment of the Center for Advanced Technology in Edinburgh, Scotland. The project is an engineering facility which will be involved in "game-changing" research and development activities involving offshore wind turbines. Additionally, Mitsubishi Power Systems is going to acquire Artemis Intelligent Power (AIP), an Edinburgh based technology company.
